United Nations Association (UNA-USA) of Westchester held a successful and well-attended Annual Meeting and Earth Day celebration on May 4th at the Grinton I Will Library in Yonkers. Centered around the theme "Protecting the Environment for Healthier Communities," the event featured an inspiring keynote by Valentina Buj de Lauwerier, Senior Adviser and Chief of Intergovernmental Affairs at UNICEF’s Public Partnerships Division, followed by a dynamic panel of local climate leaders moderated by Rand Manasse of the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County. Panelists included Oded Holzinger, Executive Director of Groundwork Hudson Valley; Pamela Stewart-Martinez of WE ACT for Environmental Justice; and Sarah Wilson, President of the Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group. The event also recognized outstanding Westchester climate leaders and celebrated student award winners from the National Model UN Conference. During the annual meeting portion, we welcomed our newly elected board of directors. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so special, and special thanks to our co-sponsors: Clean and Healthy New York; Sierra Club; Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group; NYS Association of Conservation Commissions; and WE ACT for Environmental Justice.
